![]() ![]() ![]() The music video was produced by musician and YouTuber John Mollusk, who said he'd been inspired by Thunberg and specifically her notorious quote I want you to panic. The video was posted by YouTube channel John Mollusk, who happens to be John Meredith, the drummer for the NYC-based Indonesian thrash act Suaka. A death metal adaptation of the speech has emerged online and it’s truly terrifying. Last week, YouTuber John Mollusk posted a death metal. And while the results might not be quite up to the level of Entombed or At the Gates, they’re still better than the last ten years of music from In Flames. Climate activist, Greta Thunberg is still making headlines as the sixteen-year-old’s UN speech morphed into a Swedish death metal track has now exceeded three million views. The post That viral Greta Thunberg death metal track is now a charity single called How Dare You appeared first on Consequence of Sound. Shortly after, her powerful speech was turned into a Swedish death metal song. Which is exactly what she now has, thanks to YouTuber John Mollusk, who has turned the UN speech into just such a track. Earlier this month, Greta Thunberg condemned the United Nations for their lack of action to protect the environment. Still, Thunberg is admirable, and certainly worthy of her own Swedish death metal song. Her speech made such waves that it has the right shitting their collective pants, trotting out the old “crisis actor” bullshit again and calling her a “brat” and “Lisa Simpson crossed with Bane.” Will the speech ultimately be the turning point at which humanity finally started to take climate change seriously? Probably not! People are lousy, and seemingly determined to bring about our species’ extinction as quickly as they can manage it. ![]() As one YouTube comment puts it, this genre is “eco death metal.” Perhaps the next generation will have a fresh style of music to go with their concerns about the planet.Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist whose passionate, furious speech at the UN has been the second-most popular general news story as of late (hey, no one was gonna upstage the Trump/Ukraine scandal), is a goddamn hero. Thunberg is very serious about her message, but artists are taking some liberties with turning it into a whole new genre of music. 23 now-viral United Nations Climate Action speech will be used to benefit. The death metal version hones in on the intensity of Thunberg’s words (“How dare you!”), while the Fatboy Slim one doubles down on the timeliness (he’s best known for a song that includes the lyrics “right here, right now,” which is particularly apt for Thunberg’s message given the importance of time in solving the climate change crisis.) A heavy-metal remix of Swedish teen climate activist Greta Thunbergs Sept. And then there’s a version from the English DJ Fatboy Slim, who remixed her speech into part of a recent set. John Meredith, drummer with thrash metal band Suaka, watched the speech and agreed with the message. For starters, there’s a death metal remix of the speech that’s racked up almost 5 million view on YouTube - no joke. Just when you thought there was nothing else to add to the discourse around Greta Thunberg’s UN speech, it’s now been turned into a death metal video. But now we have some new takes on her story. It was a poignant speech that made headlines. Recently, Thunberg appeared at the U.N.’s Climate Action Summit to share her message to world leaders. Youtube censors about 60 of the comments on this video: any that are perceived as even mildly critical of Greta or her. Titled 'Greta Thunberg sings Swedish Death Metal,' the video, created by a musician, sets Thunberg's speech to harsh guitar chords and distorts the 16-year-old Swedish girl's voice into a growl. By now, we’ve all heard of Greta Thunberg, the Swedish teen who has been striking on behalf of the planet - and our future - in a valiant attempt to draw attention to the issue of climate change. All music written and performed by John Mollusk, lyrics by Greta Thunberg. ![]()
